What is pools rummy?
Pools rummy is a 13 card variation rummy game. It is different from other rummy games as it has a fixed entry fee. The entry fee is mandatory if you want to play the cash pools rummy game. In pools rummy, the player will get eliminated once his/her points reach the maximum point limit which is either 101 pool points or 201 pool points. The winner in these points pools get zero points and hence entitled to the prize pool.
How to play pools rummy?
Pools rummy is easy as Points rummy. The only difference here is that the player gets eliminated once the maximum points limit is reached.
The cards used in pools rummy are played using standard packs of two or more which have 53 cards each. There is a printed joker in each pack as usual. Accurately 13 cards are randomly dealt and about 2 to 6 players can play the game.
There is a fixed entry fee to be paid in order to play cash pools rummy. This makes up for the prize pool money. The game is started by a toss that decides which player will start the game i.e.; make the first move.
In pools rummy, the game is played by picking and discarding cards. The player has to arrange 13 cards either in sets or sequences in hand. To win, the player will have to arrange at least two sets of 13 cards in which one set should be a pure sequence and the other set should have a valid sequence. All this should be done without accumulating the elimination 101 or 201 points.
Calculations done for pools rummy
Like other rummy games, the winner of the pools rummy gets awarded zero points. The losing player gets points depending on the cards held at hand. Each card has points which are as follows
A’s in the card= 10 points
K’s in the card = 10 points
Q’s in the card= 10 points
J’s in the card= 10 points
The remaining cards are scored according to their face value, example- 9 of spades = 9 points; 2 of hearts= 2 points.
Points for losing players are calculated as follows
If the players have two sets of cards in hand and one set has pure sequence while the other set does not have a sequence then the points on the cards with no sequence are calculated and awarded.
If the player does not have two sets in hands then points of both pure sequence and impure sequence are calculated and awarded.
If in case a player chooses to declare the game then the player gets 80 points.
If any player misses playing three consecutive round in the pools rummy, the payer will get the middle drop score which is 40 points in 101 pool rummy and 50 points in 201 pools rummy.
Tips for pools rummy

Always aim for pure sequences as they are not counted for scores in case you lose. Also, this keeps you safe if your opponent chooses to declare anytime.
Get rid of high-value cards first. This comes in handy when you lose and only the lesser point’s cards are calculated for scores.
Take care of your jokers. There are many ways to employ the joker in the game. The player can use the joker in the set of cards after forming the pure sequences as it gives a chance of scoring less if your opponent chooses to declare anytime.
Constantly rearrange cards.
Notice your opponents’ moves when they pick or discard cards. This gives you a fair idea about the cards they have.
